Manilva

Manilva is a tourist municipality in the Western Costa del Sol, very close to the border with the province of Cádiz, 97 km from the capital of Málaga and 35 km from Gibraltar. The fertility of the area and its privileged geographical location were great attractions for the peoples of antiquity who decided to settle in this area meaning that Manilva has been populated since prehistoric times.

The orography is configured as a series of hills that rise steadily inland from the sea, making it possible to enjoy both green / rural tourism and coastal tourism at the same time. The current population is more than 15,000 inhabitants, distributed in three population centres: Manilva, Sabinillas and El Castillo, as well as in numerous residential developments.

The coastline of Manilva is steeped in Mediterranean light, with very peculiar characteristics. It has just over eight kilometres of wide, extensive beaches of fine sand and clean, crystalline waters, equipped with all kinds of amenities and awarded, for their quality, with the Blue Flag of the Seas of Europe.

There are numerous restaurants and bars offering a rich, varied range of typical food from the province, such as gazpacho, fish and seafood, which, due to their freshness and natural flavour, are some of the most outstanding delicacies of the municipality’s gastronomy.
