Finestrat

Finestrat is one of the towns in the province of Alicante that unites the very essence of the region in its municipal area: sea and mountains.Finestrat is mountain, because the historical centre of the town lies at the foot of the majestic Puig Campana, unquestionably the peak with most character in the whole province. Finestrat is also the Mediterranean Sea; the wedge shaped municipal area of the town extends as far as the beach at Cala Morales, commonly known as Cala de Finestrat

Built on an mound of gypsum, Finestrat means "Window to the sea". The town has cared for its historical centre like few others, imbuing its buildings and traditions with culture and history. Wandering through its narrow streets means discovering architecture from the Moorish period together with magical places and enigmatic corners.

The centre of Finestrat is only 8 kilometres from Benidorm, the Costa Blanca's tourist town par excellence.

The mountain: Puig Campana

With a height of 1410 m, its proximity to the coast and its peculiar shape, Puig Campana is one of the most emblematic points on the Costa Blanca. In this protected natural space, we find an ideal place to enjoy nature in its purest state. It is a meeting point for walkers, adventurers and climbers as well as for those who simply like to contemplate this beautiful mountain.

Golf courses

Near Finestrat we can find up to 4 golf courses, which will delight fans of this noble sport. Puig Campana Golf, Club de Golf Las Rejas and Villaitana Golf - the latter with two 18-hole courses - are located on the outskirts of the town and the city of Benidorm. These excellent quality courses, for top level play, provide marvellous rounds, designed to make playing highly entertaining in a privileged environment of Mediterranean pine trees.

Amusement Parks

Finestrat boasts spectacular theme parks and water parks, which offer an incredible variety of entertainment, making it one of the most important family destinations in Europe. In recent years Finestrat has grown considerably, thanks in part to the opening of its first theme park: Terra Mitica. This park is a national reference point for leisure and has become an obligatory stop for those looking for an extra adrenaline rush when visiting the Costa Blanca.

Close to Terra Mítica, you can find Terra Natura, a water park designed to be enjoyed with the whole family all year round, as it also has a zoo. To complete the leisure experience, very close by you can find Aqualandia and Mundomar. The former is considered the best water park in Europe and is perfectly complemented by Mundomar, a park full of animals and shows.

If adventure is your thing, don't miss them!

The city of Benidorm

A few kilometres from the historic centre of Finestrat is the majestic city of Benidorm. With 71,000 inhabitants, it is visited by more than 3 million tourists a year. It is therefore known as the sun and beach tourism capital of the Costa Blanca, but it is much more than that. Tourists from all over the world come to Benidorm, not only for its beaches and enviable climate, but also for the wide variety of entertainment and fun on offer for all ages.

Benidorm has countless virtues: its strategic location, sheltered between mountains and facing south, gives it a microclimate with high temperatures all year round. The spacious beaches of fine golden sand, which are among the best in Europe, have crystal clear green waters that are at a pleasant temperature even in winter. The ancient castle, now the “Balcony of the Mediterranean”, offers a breathtaking panoramic view of the city. There is an endless supply of entertainment, with live music, lively bars and restaurants, theme parks and water parks, water sports and numerous golf courses. Benidorm is fun and colour all year round, all day and all night.

The city is also popularly known as "the New York of the Mediterranean", due to its more than 60 skyscrapers, almost 30 of which are more than 100 metres high! It is the city with the most skyscrapers in Spain, and the third in Europe behind London and Milan.

Gastronomy

Since its origins, Finestrat and its surroundings have been characterised by their dedication to agriculture. The orchards and fields are rich in fruit and vegetables, used naturally to establish the local gastronomy as one of the most varied and rich. From this wealth of ingredients comes its historic “arroz con judías y acelgas”, (rice with beans and chard), "pebrera tallada" (peppers and vegetables), "coca boba" and "coca girada", a pie with an ancient recipe based on sardines or sausage with tomato, pepper and onion. As a first class tourist centre, the restaurant industry offers the most varied range of international cuisine. The rich gastronomic variety of Finestrat is complemented by the excellent wines of Alicante, internationally recognised by the best sommeliers.

If you are thinking of buying a second home or moving to the Spanish Mediterranean coast, Finestrat is one of the best options. Its proximity to the cities of Benidorm and Alicante, with its International Airport, and its privileged location between the mountains and the Mediterranean Sea, makes it a growing area and an ideal town to make a property investment.

In contrast to Benidorm, construction in Finestrat is based on a low density model: mostly residential complexes and detached villas with beautiful views of the Benidorm skyline and the Mediterranean. It is a place to reside away from the hustle and bustle of the city, but with the advantage of having all kinds of services within walking distance.
